Libby Lavella Perfitt, MS, CCC-SLP
CCM Vocal Coach * Voice Therapist * Singer
Hello! I am Libby, the founder of Singuistics® and I am thrilled to talk to you about voice. My entire life has been in pursuit of understanding voice, and ultimately how it intersects with speech and language. Whether you are a singer looking to build a more sustainable instrument, a person struggling with a voice, speech or communication disorder or simply interested in building more awareness with your own speech, I am here for you! A little about me, I pursued music and drama during most of my schooling in Australia. I cut my teeth singing in rock bands around Sydney as a teenager. I attended the Sydney Conservatorium of Music shortly after High School for a brief stint before traveling the world. Eventually, I moved to the United States to study music and work in the music and entertainment industry as a singer. I met my husband during this time and we settled in East Los Angeles. After our son was born, I decided to go back to school to study linguistics to learn more about the science behind language and phonation. This led me to complete my studies at U.C. Berkeley. My honors thesis analyzed the relationship between speech and singing in aging voice and due to its clinical roots this let me to complete a Masters in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. I completed my clinical fellowship with The Wellness Group for Voice Speech and Swallowing. I now work in California as a singer, SLP, voice coach and vocal producer.
